Big Day

15February:
This was a bittersweet day for us. As fate would have it, Jason had to leave for his deployment today and has orders to be gone through early summer. Today was also our first OB appointment and dating ultrasound. Unfortunately, Jason's flight left early and my appointment was not until the afternoon. It was hard to say good-bye (as always), but we are thankful that his deployment schedule will allow him to be back before the baby is due.
At my appointment, an internal ultrasound was performed and measurements were taken of our tiny little baby. The midwife estimated that I was approximately 6wks pregnant but asked me to return in two weeks for a confirmation scan. While the baby was too small to hear the heartbeat, we were able to see the waves of the ultrasound flowing with the rhythm of heart, pretty neat! After working as a Labor and Delivery Nurse for several years, its a strange feeling to be experiencing pregnancy from the other side...as a new parent. A true and wonderful blessing!
