British or American??

Many people ask us about Kaden's birth certificate, is it American or British? As a child of US citizens, Kaden automatically has the right to claim American citizenship. The fact that he was born on a military base is essentially irrelevant because even though we occupy the area, our base is officially British.
A few days after Kaden's birth, we filed his birth with the national UK registry and received his British birth certificate. In order to register Kaden in America, we sent in his British birth certificate. After several weeks, we received what is known as the Consular Report of Birth Abroad. This document will act, for all legal purposes, as Kaden's American birth certificate. In order to register him for school or get his driver's license, this is the document that we will produce. However, the only 'true' birth certificate that Kaden will ever receive is British.
It is our understanding that Kaden is a dual citizen. However, since we have registered him with the American government and he will receive an American passport (hopefully sooner, rather than later), his primary country of citizenship is the United States. The only reason this would change, is if Kaden decided to declare otherwise once he reaches the appropriate age.
